Tuesday’s election was hard. It was hard for all of us who care about democracy, and it was especially hard for disenfranchised communities and individual people who couldn’t vote or who had to take risks and put up with long lines just to vote. While we wait for the results, I wanted to bring you up to date on what we’ve done—and what we see going forward.

MILWAUKEE – Wisconsin voting rights groups today said in-person voting must remain an option in the upcoming elections and called on state and local elections officials to develop a comprehensive plan to preserve voting rights if the COVID-19 outbreak continues.

Voter REGISTRATION is not the same as VOTER ID. To vote in Wisconsin, you must be registered. With just a few weeks until the first of several important statewide elections this year, the Wisconsin Senate just voted 18 – 12, along party lines, to fire the administrator of Wisconsin's Elections Commission, Michael Haas.

Last month Wisconsin legislative leaders suddenly demanded resignations from the widely respected administrators of the Wisconsin Elections Commission and the Wisconsin Ethics Commission.

  There are many ways to register: You can register with a special registration deputy (until Oct. 19); You can register by mail (until Oct. 19) (here’s the form: http://www.gab.wi.gov/sites/default/files/gab_forms/4/gab_131_voter_registration_application_2014_05_p_12763.pdf ); You can register at the Municipal Clerk’s office or your early voting site  until the Friday before an election (Nov. 4); You can register at the polls on Election Day   To register, if you have a current, valid Wisconsin driver’s license you need to put the license number on the voter registration form.
