Jon McCray Jones

Jon has been with the ACLU of Wisconsin since January 2023.

"Prisons do not disappear social problems, they disappear human beings. Homelessness, unemployment, drug addiction, mental illness, and illiteracy are only a few of the problems that disappear from public view when the human beings contending with them are relegated to cages."

Angela Davis

Jon's primary responsibility as Policy Analyst is to help develop and implement the legislative and advocacy priorities of the ACLU of Wisconsin by conducting rigorous research, tracking our legislative priorities, and building trusted relationships with community members and officials.

He comes with organizing experience from Black Leaders Organizing for Communities (BLOC), Citizen's Action, and the Wisconsin Anti-Violence Education Effort (WAVEE).

"It's hard to make the best out of your life when your community is over-policed, surveilled, discriminated against, and censored. Therefore I joined the ACLU to fight against the oppression of marginalized communities and fight for equal opportunities and resources."

Jon graduated from UW-Milwaukee with a B.A. in Philosophy and Political Science.
