It is the Milwaukee Police Department, not Sterling Brown, which is responsible for the disturbing outcome of his stop for a minor parking violation. We need our elected officials – from the Mayor to council members to the city attorney - to make decisions that support constitutional policing in our community, rather than furthering the divide between the community and police department.

To avoid these problems in the future, the Milwaukee Police Department must promptly and fully implement the settlement agreement from the Stop and Frisk case. This will help ensure that the MPD stops unfairly targeting communities of color, and respects the constitutional rights of all the people of Milwaukee.
