MILWAUKEE, WI - ACLU of Wisconsin Executive Director Chris Ott issued the following statement regarding the proposed changes to SOP 130 adopted by the Milwaukee Fire and Police Commission.

“We are pleased with the Milwaukee Fire and Police Commission's decision to adopt the proposed changes to SOP 130, a resolution which compels immigration enforcement officials to obtain a warrant from a judge before working with the Milwaukee Police Department,” Ott said. "We are hopeful that its enactment will better protect the rights of immigrants, bolster the community's sense of safety and security, and ensure law enforcement officials treat residents with dignity and respect."
