Failed to pass both houses, will not become law this session

This bill would establish a felony criminal penalty for a physician who fails to preserve “a child born alive” following an abortion procedure. So-called “born alive” bills are an anti-abortion tactic that make up a problem that doesn’t exist. Doctors are already required to provide appropriate medical care by law.

This bill would harm doctors’ ability to provide – and patients’ ability to access – appropriate, compassionate, evidence-based care in complex individual circumstances.
