AB-962/SB-937: App Store Age Verification

This bill requires app store providers to collect and verify age category information for users in Wisconsin and to link minor accounts to a parent account. For minors, app stores must obtain verifiable parental consent before allowing app downloads, purchases, or in-app transactions and must provide parents with detailed disclosures about content and data practices.

The bill also imposes data-sharing and notification requirements between app stores and developers, including when apps undergo significant changes. Enforcement is handled by state agencies through civil penalties, with additional private rights of action for affected minors and parents.
