This bill would add Hmong American and Asian American relations to the statutory educational goals for Wisconsin public schools.

Wisconsin is home to the third largest population of Hmong Americans in the country, and the Asian American population in our state has risen 82% since the 2000 census.

This bill will ensure the unique history and experiences of Hmong Americans and all Asian Americans are included in K-12 instruction in Wisconsin public schools by amending the educational goals in Wisconsin Statutes section 118.01(2)(c) to read, “at all grade levels, an understanding of human relations, particularly with regard to American Indians, Black Americans, Hispanics, Hmong Americans, and Asian Americans.”
