On Tuesday, Oct. 5, we registered in support of WI State Senate Joint Resolution 62, calling on Congress members to enact federal legislation granting statehood to Washington D.C. 

Providing the citizens of D.C. with the political representation they deserve will have effects that reverberate across the country. Necessary legislative priorities like national voting and democracy reform -- along with long-overdue protections such as the Equality Act -- will help push every state, including Wisconsin, forward.

D..C. Statehood is important to re-enfranchise more than 712,000 Americans who have been wrongly denied their full voting rights for more than 200 years.
