MILWAUKEE - The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Wisconsin has announced the hiring of James Stein as its data and organizing specialist. 

In the position, James supports the ACLU team by integrating organizing tools and data programs into campaigns by training and supporting staff and volunteers teams. He helps identify, recruit, train, and organize volunteers, and maintain databases and information to strengthen ACLU campaigns. 

James comes to the ACLU with a deep personal stake in fighting the war on drugs and is also passionate about dismantling white supremacy and oppression in all of our institutions. His work with the ACLU is grounded in his passion for organizing, building relationships, and bringing people together around common causes that aspire to make the world a more just and equitable place for all of us. 

“Fighting alongside activists, organizers, volunteers and being able to elevate the next generation of leaders is truly my life’s calling,” James said.

Prior to joining the ACLU, James worked on Senator Cory Booker’s 2020 presidential campaign.  He also served as the digital director for Zach Vruwink’s campaign for the Mayor of Wisconsin Rapids, as well as the Organizing Director for the Maine Democratic State Senate.
