Every summer for the past 3 years the ACLU of Wisconsin, in partnership with community groups and leaders, provides approximately 40 high school students (Including incoming freshman), a two-week intensive camp experience teaching essential leadership and social justice issues, skills and techniques for civic engagement.
Public speaking, civil liberties and civil rights, organizing, visual arts, self-care, current events and threats to our society are among the issues we explore. From issues in Immigration, LGBTQ+, Mass Incarceration, Voting Rights, and more, students will become experts on the issues currently being confronted in Wisconsin today.
We have already had our Summer Justice Institute for 2019 but contact Community Engagement Director, Emilio De Torre - 414.305.8569 or Youth Organizer, Hope Owens-Wilson - 414.272.4032 ext.225 - firstname.lastname@example.org to make sure that you or a young person you know does not miss out on this opportunity in 2020!
