Election Protection

Election Protection Hotline. Call 888-OUR-VOTE

For many years, the ACLU of Wisconsin has been engaged in Election Protection efforts alongside a broad coalition of non-partisan organizations across the state. We do this by working with our coalition partners to provide individual assistance through the Election Protection Hotline (1-866-OUR-VOTE), by monitoring and addressing systemic issues affecting access to the polls, and – when necessary – seeking relief for voters in the courts.

If you are a voter seeking assistance on Election Day, during early voting, or in preparing to register or vote, or if you have witnessed issues at the polls like voter intimidation or other barriers to access, you can contact Election Protection at the contact information below:

Volunteer with Election Protection

Non-partisan Election Protection attorney observers will serve a critical role during the April 7, 2026 election by providing mobile poll monitoring during elections, helping to respond to and address issues reported by Election Observers and to the Election Protection Hotline, and, in rare cases, stepping into court with the help of the ACLU legal team and its attorney coalition partners. Non-partisan attorney volunteers also receive training specific to voting rights and democracy defense. If you are interested in volunteering to observe the April 7, 2026 election, please fill out the form below.

We are seeking law student volunteers to serve as non-partisan election observers in Wisconsin communities that process absentee ballots at Central Count locations on Election Day (April 7, 2026).

Non-partisan election observers play a crucial role in monitoring elections for systemic issues impacting voters. The ACLU of Wisconsin Foundation law student volunteers will be provided training prior to Election Day and will be assigned to cover specific central count locations on Tuesday, April 7th.
