MILWAUKEE — The ACLU of Wisconsin has announced the election of a new Board of Directors Executive Committee. The new Executive Committee now includes President Nichole Yunk Todd, Vice President Angela Lang, Treasurer Leslie Fillingham, Secretary William F. Sulton, and National Board Representative Shaadie Ali.
“We are excited about the diverse knowledge and background coming to the ACLU of Wisconsin from the members of this new Executive Committee,” said Chris Ott, executive director of the ACLU of Wisconsin. “Their leadership positions us to have an even greater impact in advancing fairness and justice and defending the constitutional rights of everyone within our borders.”
“The ACLU of Wisconsin stands strong against any threat to civil liberties or civil rights in our state. I am deeply honored to work alongside the Board of Directors and Staff to ensure that the organization continues its unyielding work for freedom and justice,” said Nichole Yunk Todd upon being elected as President.
Todd has been a member of the ACLU of Wisconsin Board of Directors since 2012 and most recently served as Vice President for four years. She is currently the Administrator of Youth Services for Wisconsin Community Services (WCS), the state’s largest non-profit provider of services to individuals who are involved in or at risk of involvement in the justice system.
“The ACLU of Wisconsin has a strong 90 year history of fighting for and advancing the freedoms of all Wisconsinites,” added Angela Lang, newly elected Vice President. “I look forward to continuing that fight and building a more just and equitable Wisconsin for everyone.”
Lang is currently the Executive Director of Black Leaders Organizing for Communities (BLOC), a community-based organization working to lift up the Black residents, leaders, and businesses of Milwaukee.
The statewide Board of the ACLU of Wisconsin will meet next (virtually, due to pandemic concerns) on March 21, to discuss issues such as the implications for civil liberties and civil rights of the pandemic, plans for the DNC in Milwaukee in July, and voting rights in 2020.
The ACLU of Wisconsin is the state affiliate of the national ACLU and is a non-profit, non-partisan, private organization. The ACLU of Wisconsin has a 24 member Board of Directors, 13,000 members, and is dedicated to defending the civil liberties and civil rights of all Wisconsin residents.
